Have you wondered about idea behind the mosaics?

The Artist in Residence this year was Lizz Van Saun, who works at  Kast Hill Studio in Hopkinton. The inspiration for the mosaics was from the Elm Brook Park rangers and the Audubon Society who brought in stuffed animals for us to draw. All animals were local, and parts of the drawings were put together to make multiple bigger pictures. We used broken glass to fill in the spaces and some of us grouted them. Then they were installed in the side of the building, and that’s where they still are. When put together in the right order, the mosaics all go together as one long picture, connected by the Contoocook River, at the bottom, and the hills more toward the top.
